Graphic contest “Rom/ka: tu i teraz” (Roma: here and now)

Art has a power to change society. A field that excels of this aspect is poster. A well-designed one, it can change social attitudes, engage people, stimulate discussion. That’s why the Foundation Towards Dialogue announces the “Rom/ka: tu i teraz” (Roma: here and now) poster contest. Artworks can be submitted until the 11th of December.

The poster contest organized by the Foundation Towards Dialogue to illustrate slogan “Rom/ka: tu i teraz” (Roma: here and now) is an artistic challenge to inspire young poster artists to create modern interpretations of the culture, history and traditions of Roma community. It’s an opportunity to let your imagination run wild and portray the Roma community in a positive, fresh and inspiring way. Artworks that meet requirements of the contest can be submitted until the 11th of December, and its results will be announced as early as the 14th of December.

The competition “Rom/ka: tu i teraz” (Roma: here and now) is a chance to get one of awards worth a total of PLN 4,000 in addition to opportunity for designing a poster on the theme connected with Roma community. The artworks will be evaluated by a jury consisting of: Joanna Talewicz – the President of the Foundation Towards Dialogue, Mateusz Machalski – lecturer at the graphics department in the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and Michał Michalski – co-founder of newonce.media that includes newonce radio and newonce.paper. The results of the contest will be announced at https://fundacjawstronedialogu.pl/ on the 14th of December.

To explore the diversity of Roma traditions, art, music, dance, handicrafts and language, as well as to highlight the subjectivity of Roma people in the modern world. With your artwork, you can also draw attention to the Roma community’s involvement in society or refer to the human rights context. Let your poster be a voice that supports equality, acceptance and the richness of Roma culture,” encourages Weronika Wysocka of the Foundation Towards Dialogue to participate in the contest.

  • Delivering, a completed and signed application form available HERE.
