Language determines reality. That’s why it’s so important to know how to speak about those who are marginalized by the world. During a free workshop scheduled for December the 20th with Anna Alboth – the journalist and activist who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize – you will learn the secrets of ethical journalism, find out how to counter exclusion using words, confronting stereotypes about the Roma community and discovering its rich culture. The workshop is organized by Foundation Toward Dialogue with the support of UNICEF.
To who this workshop is addressed?
The workshop is addressed to people who produce media and communication materials on socially marginalized groups, including but not limited to media people, educators and activists. The workshop will be held in English.

The workshop will be held on December the 20th from 16:30 until 21:30 online.

Workshop program
During the workshop you will learn the secrets of ethical journalism, find out how to counter exclusion with words, confront stereotypes about the Roma community and discover its rich culture. The workshop includes talks, sharing experiences, meeting people from the Roma community, presenting photo and video materials and your own work. There will also be specialists on discrimination, visual messages and media people during the class.
Biography of speaker
Anna Alboth – the journalist, activist and media officer of Minority Rights Group International. She has written hundreds of texts in the field of human rights (mainly in the topics of minorities and migration), and has won nominations and awards for the ethics of her content. As a trainer of media programs, Anna has already trained more than 300 female journalists in Europe and Africa, whom she also takes to the field, consults, and supports. In 2016, she initiated the Civil March For Aleppo – a nearly 9-month-long demonstration from Berlin to the Syrian borders, attended by nearly 4,000 people , for which she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She co-founded the European Youth Press and the Border Group.
