A two-day International Congress “Jewish Cultural Heritage: Practices, Perspectives, Challenges” will be held this week at the POLIN Museum in Warsaw. The Foundation Towards Dialogue will be represented at this Congress by Joanna Talewicz-Kwiatkowska. The program will also include an exhibition of Adam Durjasz’s photos arranged by the Foundation.
“This is a great celebration for diversity education, and also a platform for sharing experiences, discussing new topics and interpreting the role of Jewish culture and history in contemporary Europe.” – This is how the International Congress “Jewish Cultural Heritage: practices, perspectives, challenges” is announced by POLIN Museum. The Congress program consists of a series of lectures, including a lecture by Joanna Talewicz-Kwiatkowska, the president of the Foundation Towards Dialogue, titled “Wartime experiences and their impact on the mobilization of Roma community.” The lecture will be listened during the second session in the first day of the congress (19th of October) starting at 3:00 p.m. The event will also include speeches of Prof. Dariusz Stola (ISP PAN), Vibeke Moe (HL-Senteret) and Patrycja Dolowy (Jewish Community Center in Warsaw), as well as Avishai Margalit (Hebrew University, Israel), journalist Jagoda Grondecka or Bojana Dujkovic-Blagojevic (European Wergeland Center).
During the congress there will also be an exhibition of photos made by Adam Durjasz. This exhibition is organised by our Foundation and titled as “Daily life of Roma refugee women in Warsaw: year 2022”. Durjasz’s emotional photos allow us to get closer to the women who had to flee the war – to look into their eyes, to try to find what they have in common while being aware of the differences that build and not divide.
