Language shapes reality. That’s why it’s so important to know how to speak about those who are marginalized by the world. During the free workshop with Anna Alboth, a journalist and activist nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, you will learn the secrets of ethical journalism, find out how to counter exclusion by using words, how to confront stereotypes about the Roma community and discover its rich culture.
To whom are these workshops addressed?
Workshops are addressed to people who produce materials for media and communication concerning socially marginalized groups, including (but not limiting to) people working in media, educators and activists.
When and where will the workshop take place?
Workshop will take place on December 20 (Wednesday) between 4:30 pm and 9:30 pm in online (during the workshop breaks are planned).

Participation in workshops are free of charge. The prerequisite for participation is filling out the registration form, available at the bottom of this page.
Workshops’ program
During the workshop you will learn the secrets of ethical journalism, find out how to counteract exclusion using words, how to confront stereotypes about the Roma community and discover its rich culture. Worrkshops’ program include conversations, experience exchange, meeting with people from the Roma community, photo and video material presentation and individual work. During the workshops there will also be specialists dealing with discrimination, visual messages and people from the media.
Biography of speaker
Anna Alboth – the journalist, activist and media officer of Minority Rights Group International. She has written hundreds of human rights texts (mainly on minority and migration issues) and awarded nominations and prizes for ethics elements in her materials. As a trainer in media programs, Anna has already trained more than 300 female journalists in Europe and Africa. She also engages them, consults and supports. In 2016, she initiated the Civil March For Aleppo – a nearly 9-month-long demonstration from Berlin to Syrian borders that involved almost 4,000 participants and due to that she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She is a co-founder of European Youth Press and the Grupa Granica.
